When they disabled it, I mean they wouldn't even let me do local backups. Their cloud offering was pretty much useless, given bandwidth limitations I kept experiencing and only token storage capacity unless I wanted to buy more. Therefore I opted to revert to a simple local disk based backup.

What could go wrong? I'll even give them another go by ordering just the basic local disk storage option CD. It would not install saying that I already had an Acronis product, the cloud product that had expired. OK, let's uninstall it. Nope, Acronis uninstall said it was already gone. Nope, it's still there OK, google "How do I uninstall Acronis " At least I now know this has happened to others I edit the registry and then try a fresh install from CD.

The install procedure sat at the Status time-bar for over an hour with no progress. Perhaps theres a bad copy on CD. So I download from the website. It does the same thing. Perhaps, I think, I need to rerun the script and remove all vestiges of Acronis again , no matter how small. Nope, Nada, no glory, no relief.

I'm a retired IT professional. I've been putzing around with Microsoft since damn near day 1. I have never experienced a product that I couldn't remove, replace, or reinstall. Until now. I'm irritated that they disabled local backups when I didn't opt to renew cloud coverage. I'm stunned that they have such a complex, and hidden, script to remove the product and edit the Registry. Seriously, have customers get into the Registry?!? What are you thinking??????

What could go wrong????????? I'd like to install this and move on. But, I feel that I have wasted money on a non-functional product. I'm going to try and return this, now opened, CD envelope.

What are the odds this is gonna work out in my favor? Stay away from True Image There are some issues here. On checkout it showed the product was used but it was new but it had something cut off the box but the Product code was inside and it looked as though the factory seal was never tampered with. I've used many versions of True Image Backup and never liked the interface but it's a good product maybe the best.

They keep making meaningless changes to the User Interface that just make you relearn how to set it up and use it. I bought it only because I need it for Windows I still have TI for Windows 7. It looses a star for the User Interface. It's possible I might have been able to keep using version on Windows 10 doing the backup in Windows 7 dual boot but I did not want to take a chance and the price was better than the latest version. I would say it's a trusted seller as well though I don't know what was cut off the box bar code maybe It's NOT a "two click" backup and restore as the description says, You have to set some parameters like a backup location and give it a name, chose if you want to do automatic backups, one time, full, incremental etc etc and THAT'S the part they keep changing so you have to find where they moved it to.

It's still the best that's available today in my opinion after 20 years of doing backups. There were better easier products in the past that just don't exists any more but had fewer options. See all reviews.

The next step in the cloning process is to choose the data moving method from the old drive to the new one. The choices are As Is, Proportional and Manual.

I chose to keep the current state of the drive intact with the As Is option and clicked next.
